Sanyo has added a portable widescreen LCD projector to its lineup. The PLC-WXU700 features high-speed 802.11n wireless LAN capability, video streaming, full WXGA resolution, 3,800 lumens, and compatibility with the Windows Vista Network Projector function, according to the company.

The PLC-WXU700 is the company's first projector to offer IEEE 802.11n high-speed wireless LAN capabilities, increasing transmission speeds currently available for Sanyo portable projectors that have wireless functionality. Video streaming support allows playback of video stored on a computer's hard drive while the file is being streamed or downloaded to the projector, the company says. The projector's video streaming and playback is compatible with MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and WMV files.

With Windows Embedded CE 6.0 software, the PLC-WXU700 can also be used as a network projector with almost any computer running Windows Vista. The content on a LAN-based PC monitor can be transmitted wirelessly to the projector, reportedly eliminating complicated setup time loading special programs or drivers. Opening the Windows Vista Network Projector function on a PC initiates a search for the projector.
